HALLOWEEN (2018)

“HALLOWEEN NUMBER 11”

Synopsis: It’s Halloween and Mike Myers is being transferred to a new prison facility. He manages to escape (shocker!) and is dead set on finally murdering his sister. However, she has spent the last 40 years preparing for this moment.

Review: The concept of Mike Myers is pretty terrifying: An invincible masked psychopath hunts you down, while he walks with an empty facial expression. The slow walk is a power move that shows he’s in complete control. However, after the 11th movie in the series, it begins to lose its effectiveness for me. If I had a sibling hellbent on murdering me, I’d be leaving a few lamps on (and booby-trapping the house in preparation for his eventual visit).

Some characters bring the comic relief. I laughed pretty hard at some of the dad jokes. There are some fun set pieces in the final act – like a more violent Home Alone.

Ehh. Halloween (2018) has more of the same Michael Myers antics, but you’d be better off watching the original Halloween – an all time classic.

Beneath the Basement (random thoughts and questions but beware of spoilers):

  • Like Michael Myers, these sequels need killed once and for all.
  • While watching this, I longed for the original movie like Mike Myers longs to murder his family. So, my thoughts on this may be a little pessimistic.
  • Horror Movie Bad Idea: Transferring any invincible murderer to another facility. What could possibly go wrong?
  • Scariest part of the whole movie: going number two while knowing Mike Myers is in the bathroom. Talk about being in an embarrassing position.
  • Unanswerable Question: How does Mike Myers travel so fast by just walking? He travels as fast as cars do.
  • How is he invincible? The answers don’t make sense the more you think about it. Mike Myers got run over by a car, burned alive and was literally SHOT IN THE HEAD.
  • That being said… Who else thinks they could definitely outrun MM? It does not seem difficult.
  • “Lock your doors.” Umm… I think you may need more than that against MM.
  • MM smashes people’s head as if he was crushing tomatoes for pasta pomodoro.
  • I did enjoy the final act when MM and his sister face off. Is there a deadlier game than playing hide and seek with Mike Myers?
  • Jamie Lee Curtis vs McCauley Culkin – who had a deadlier booby-trapped house?
